Connecting landholders and volunteers to enhance the biodiversity of the Adelaide Hills
Connecting landholders and volunteers to enhance the biodiversity of the Adelaide Hills
We often hear about species on the brink of extinction or the climate on the brink of collapse – and this sounds quite daunting and hopeless.
However, community and landholders can work together to push back that brink!
Do you have a biodiversity project in mind but don't have everything you need to get it moving? Hills Biodiversity can connect you with the skills and knowledge to plan your project, as well as provide volunteer labour to tackle those elements that are just too big to take on by yourself.
Are you time-poor and still want to contribute to improving biodiversity in the Hills? We get together for about 2 hours per month on the third Sunday of the month at 9am - no commitment, attend as many events as you want. We plant and/or weed, then enjoy a light lunch washed down with a drink of your choice. It's a great way to meet and chat with like-minded people, and connect yourself with the local community.
Hills Biodiversity utilises experienced bushcarers to guide and assist the protection of remnant native vegetation
So you have an idea for your property, or in your region to protect or rebuild habitat. Weeds, bare ground, lone paddock trees, weedy creeks , missing habitat and species… Hills Biodiversity will help guide your best course of action and importantly, help implement that plan
Do you need an army of volunteers to give your re-vegetation project a boost? A large group of volunteers working for a couple of hours can plant hundreds of plants.
Pest plant removal can be overwhelming (and prickly). Hills Biodiversity can assist in your pest plant removal in line with your Action Plan
Hills Biodiversity is well-connected with bird, bat and mammal experts, and assists with academic and citizen science studies
Hills Biodiversity has created a community nursery in the Adelaide Hills area to supply plants for re-vegetation projects.
